Jason Whiteley's practice is focused on advising closely-held businesses in a variety of corporate and transactional matters and on representing clients in information technology-related transactions. His work with closely-held companies includes business formation planning, private financings, general corporate compliance, and executing the purchase or sale of a business. He also represents clients in information technology-related transactions such as software and patent licensing agreements, technology development agreements, OEM and distribution agreements and agreements for software implementation services. He has represented clients in transactions with some of the largest utilities in North America and with IBM, Accenture, Cisco Systems, Inc., Cap Gemini, and Certicom, a subsidiary of Research in Motion.

Prior to re-joining Witherspoon Kelley, Jason was Assistant General Counsel at Itron, Inc. (NASD: ITRI), where he was responsible for the Legal Department that supported Itron's North American operating segment.

Highlights and Achievements

  • Received the "Outstanding Contribution to Sales Effort Award" for 2011 at the Itron North America Sales Meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada.
  • Completed the 2010 "Advanced Negotiation: Deal Design and Implementation" course at the Harvard Negotiation Institute in Cambridge, MA.
  • Received the "Outstanding Achievement Award" for completion of a smart metering contract with Southern California Edison, which remains the single largest sale in Itron's history.
