Effective May 16, 2016, entrepreneurs are now able to raise capital from the public using the new federal “Regulation Crowdfunding” exemption. Because anyone can now invest in a crowdfunding securities offering, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has placed limits on the amount of money that may be raised from each investor. The SEC also requires the issuing companies and the online platforms where the offering is posted to comply with specific requirements.
On September 29, Rick Repp, corporate and securities attorney at Witherspoon Kelley, will present what every entrepreneur considering an equity crowdfunding campaign needs to know about the new rules.
